Information Blocking Basics Webinar

This program will provide background on the Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) new rule prohibiting information blocking and facilitating individual access to patient records, current and future compliance deadlines, and practical considerations as you prepare and revise policies to implement the new rule.  In addition, we will discuss the potential impact of a proposed HIPAA rule change that will affect how you deal with patient access requests and authorizations.

Presenter: Terri Harris, Partner, Fox Rothschild, LLP
With 30 years of experience, Terri has worked with all types of health care providers in navigating the many risks and challenges of the rapidly changing health care industry. Terri has developed a deep understanding of health care laws and regulations to aid health care clients in their compliance efforts and to assist clients who are alleged to have failed to comply with health care laws or regulations. She has regularly advised clients regarding almost every aspect of health care operations, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and voluntary overpayment refunds, certificate of need and licensure, confidentiality of medical information and HIPAA, medical staff and peer review, advance directives, professional discipline and licensure, risk management, operational policies and contracting.  Terri has also worked with post-acute care and other provider clients who seek to provide new or expanded services to obtain approval through the North Carolina Certificate of Need process. Terri has been a regular speaker and presenter on a variety of health care compliance and risk management topics and has spoken recently on the risks and challenges of opioids in post-acute care for the American Health Law Association and the South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association.

Prior to the webinar, a Zoom link will be e-mailed to you. You will need to register through this link to attend the webinar. After registering via Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email which will include a join link to access the webinar, a dial-in number and an access code to listen in via telephone. You will also be sent any pertinent handouts if available. 

Registration Fee:
The registration fee covers one individual and one continuing education (CE) certificate (if applicable). Multiple site participation from individuals within your agency will require separate registration. For example: if your agency has paid for 1 participating registration but 3 people from your agency would like to attend (and receive CE credit if applicable), your agency will need to pay a separate registration fee for all 3 participants. In addition, if your agency has sent in 1 registration but 3 people from your agency register through the Zoom link, your agency will be invoiced the registration fee for the additional 2 registrations. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup. If you would like to register more than 10 attendees from your agency, please contact [email protected] for discount group pricing.

Cancellation and Substitution Policy:
Fees will be refunded, or invoices will be adjusted, only if written notice of cancellation is received by AHHC/SCHCHA one week prior to the event. In the event of cancellation, AHHC/SCHCHA will retain, or charge, 50% of the initial registration fee, per registrant, to cover administrative overhead. Once written cancellation is received, an AHHC/SCHCHA staff member will review for approval. If your cancellation is approved, we will email back a signed and dated copy of the cancellation that your agency should retain on file in case of questions.
