The Aide's Role in Caring for Older Adults in Home Care

According to Healthy People 2020 from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, as Americans live longer, growth in the number of older adults is unprecedented. In 2014, 14.5% (46.3 million) of the US population was aged 65 or older and is projected to reach 23.5% (98 million) by 2060. Aging adults experience higher risk of chronic disease. In 2012, 60% of older adults managed 2 or more chronic conditions. Many of the clients you provide care for in the home will be older adults with chronic conditions such as heart, lung, kidney disease, diabetes, cancer or other conditions. This presentation will focus on providing care for the older population.
