The Role of Intake in Coding and F2F

Gathering information needed to accurately complete the required elements of the PDGM starts before any clinician assesses the patient. An important component of initial information gathering involves the Face to Face (F2F) requirements. This course provides the key elements that should be collected during the intake process.
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
1. Articulate the essential elements of F2F compliance.
2. Define the elements of the PDGM that are impacted by intake functions.
3. Outline key pieces of documentation that should be collected by Intake staff.
Coding in PDGM: Critical Concepts for Clinicians and Coders

Appropriate selection of ICD-10 codes is critical to creating accurate representation of each patient and requires a partnership between the clinicians and those who possess the unique ability to code records. In PDGM, coding impacts TWO of the determining factors for payment. This session will outline the steps agencies need to take to ensure their coding processes are efficient, effective and ethical.
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
1. Confirm who is responsible for assigning a diagnosis to a patient.
2. Compare and contrast the definitions of the primary and secondary diagnoses and their impact on the PDGM.
3. Examine the key elements of clinical documentation that will support accurate coding.
OASIS: Focus on Function

There is nothing fundamentally new when it comes to the tension surrounding the accurate assessment of functional ability using OASIS, but the inclusion of the GG items has brought many things back to the surface. Determining who should assess what and how that is done can lead to divisions between nurses and therapists that do not effectively and efficiently get the level of proficiency needed. This session will address key elements of assessing function in a collaborative model.
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
1. Connect the OASIS items that impact payment in the PDGM.
2. Define “safety” in the context of the OASIS items related to functional ability.
3. Discuss strategies for improving the accuracy of OASIS data collection with respect to functional ability.

Diana “Dee” Kornetti, Owner/Founder, Kornetti & Krafft Healthcare Solutions
Dee, a physical therapist for over 30 years, is a past administrator and co-owner of a Medicare-certified home health agency. As Owner/Founder, Dee serves as the Chief Operations Officer for Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions, where she has an integral role in product and clinical resource development.
Dee is a nationally recognized speaker in the areas of home health, standardized tests and measures in the field of physical therapy, training and staff development. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and current President of its Home Health Section (HHS). Dee currently serves as the President of the Association of Home Care Coding and Compliance (AHCC) and a member of its Advisory Board and Panel of Experts.
Dee is a published researcher on the Berg Balance Scale, and has contributed articles related to home health for multiple organizations and associations, including the APTA, its Home Health Section, the AHCC and H3.group. Dee has contributed chapter updates to the Handbook of Home Health Care Administration 6th edition, and co-authored a book, The Post-Acute Care Guide to Maintenance Therapy.
Dee received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from Boston University’s Sargent College of Allied Health Professions, and her M.A. in healthcare administration from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Cindy Krafft, Owner/Founder, Kornetti & Kraft Health Care Solutions
Cindy Krafft PT, MS, HCS-O brings more than 20 years of home health expertise that ranges from direct patient care to operational / management issues as well as a passion for understanding regulations. She is a nationally recognized educator in the areas of documentation, regulation, therapy utilization and OASIS. She currently serves on multiple Technical Expert Panels with CMS Contractors working on clinical and payment reforms.
Cindy is on the editorial board of Home Healthcare Now and a frequently sought out expert contributor for other home health publications. She has written 3 books – The How-to Guide to Therapy Documentation, An Interdisciplinary Approach to Home Care and the Handbook to Home Health Therapy Documentation – and co-authored her fourth, The Post-Acute Care Guide to Maintenance Therapy with her business partner Diana Kornetti PT, MA, HCS-D.

Prior to the webinar, a Zoom link will be e-mailed to you. You will need to register through this link to attend the webinar. After registering via Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email which will include a join link to access the webinar, a dial-in number and an access code to listen in via telephone. You will also be sent any pertinent handouts if available.
Registration Fee:
The registration fee covers one individual and one continuing education (CE) certificate (if applicable). Multiple site participation from individuals within your agency will require separate registration. For example: if your agency has paid for 1 participating registration but 3 people from your agency would like to attend and receive CE credit, your agency will need to pay a separate registration fee for all 3 participants. In addition, if your agency has sent in 1 registration but 3 people from your agency register through the Zoom link, your agency will be invoiced the registration fee for the additional 2 registrations. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup. If you would like to register more than 10 attendees from your agency, please contact [email protected] for discount group pricing.
Cancellation and Substitution Policy:
Fees will be refunded, or invoices will be adjusted, only if written notice of cancellation is received by AHHC one week prior to the event. In the event of cancellation, AHHC will retain, or charge, 50% of the initial registration fee, per registrant, to cover administrative overhead. Once written cancellation is received, an AHHC staff member will review for approval. If your cancellation is approved, we will email back a signed and dated copy of the cancellation that your agency should retain on file in case of questions.
